Switch From Diesel shows plenty of gears After their first Group race winner earlier in the afternoon with Chally Chute, trainer Ross O'Sullivan and jockey Donagh O'Connor doubled up when classy bumper mare Switch From Diesel (9/2) made a winning debut on the Flat in the concluding 1xBet Safer Gambling Maiden at the Curragh. The daughter of Yeats, a three-time winner in bumpers including a Listed contest at Fairyhouse in April, came from well off the pace and made steady progress down the stands' side to nail Factual Fact on the line with a nose the margin of victory. Winning trainer Ross O’Sullivan said of Paul Mullins' homebred: “We were delighted coming off the stands, thinking she was second. “The plan was to come here and have a run to set her up nicely to go jumping which she has taken to well. “She’s a lovely filly to have with a big engine. “I thought she would take a run as she’s 15 kilos heavier than what she was last year. “Donagh gave her a great ride. She can’t be hit so it’s hands and heels all the way. We found that last year it was the way to ride her but she’s as tough as nails.” Additional reporting by Alan Magee
