Tharawaat for the Troytown

Tharawaat, so impressive under the welter-burden of eleven stone ten in the Dara Cassidy Memorial Handicap Chase at Galway on Sunday has received an eight pound hike in the ratings to a new mark of 141.

A half-brother by Alhaarth, to Dermot Weld's recent victors on the level, Galileo's Choice (by Galileo) and Celebrity Sevi (Peintre Celebre), Tharawaat was of course more that useful over flights where he has a rating of 132. However he looks like he'll leave that level of performance well behind in his chasing career judged on Sunday's comfortable seven length success in the deep Ballybrit terrain.

Indeed his rider Davy Russell said as much after the win, commenting: "He feels like a stronger horse than last season. He loved the ground and jumped great. He is a young horse and hopefully he's improving."

Today trainer Gordon Elliott gave an upbeat report on his charge, remarking: "He took his race very well and he goes now for the Troytown next month (on November 27th at Navan)."
