Together lands Grade 1 in the US Together trained by Aidan O’Brien and ridden by Colm O'Donoghue landed the Grade 1, Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Stakes at Keeneland on Saturday night. Having finished second in four Group 1 contests this season and second again just last week in a Grade 1 over the course the filly by Galileo was a most deserving winner of the big pot. On what was her trip Stateside she re-opposed three fillies who beat her in the Grade 2, Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies race at Churchill Downs last November. More Than Real won on that occasion beating Winter Memories and Kathmanblu into second and third while Together could only manage fifth. Today however, Together got her revenge racing in behind the leader Summer Soiree she was pushed along in third turning for home. She responded well to O'Donoghue's urgings and forged into the lead over a furlong out. Marketing Mix was her biggest danger from there but she kept on gamely, racing away to score by a length and quarter at the odds of 9/2. The pair went three and a half lengths clear of the third placed horse Nereid while the favourite Winter Memories at 7/5 finished back in fourth. Donal Murphy
