It's a busy day today with five meetings across Britain and Ireland, but our attention here turns to the return of racing on the beach at Laytown.

A fascinating meeting where competitors face the conditions of the sand rather than those of the turf, tapeta or polytrack.

Thursday’s Lucky15 tips

  • 5.05 Laytown - Lismacbryan

  • 5.40 Laytown - Jered Maddox

  • 6.10 Laytown - Ocean Manifest

  • 7.10 Laytown - Shoot To Kill
  • 5.05 Laytown - Lismacbryan

The Peter Clusky-trained Lismacbryan arrives here in good form.

She finished fourth in her penultimate start at 6f and that's a good vein of form as the third-placed horse that day has won in good style at Bellewstow since. On her last run, she finished a close second over 5f, and shaped like today's trip of 6f is her optimal trip.

She is a fascinating contender here, and it can only be a positive that champion jockey Colin Keane takes the ride for the first time.

    5.40 Laytown - Jered Maddox

Not every horse takes to the conditions presented by Laytown, but one who really comes alive at this venue is David Marnane's gelding Jered Maddox.

He won this race last year and also won another race at Laytown the year before.

He's been inconsistent lately, but he showed a glimpse of his old form earlier in the season, winning two races at Dundalk in exemplary fashion.

He has never really made an impact on the turf, primarily due to unfavourable ground conditions. Therefore, it's best to disregard his recent summer runs. Again, before winning this race last year, he arrived in similar form.

Returning to Laytown should spark a rejuvenation for this proven contender, and he should make it three from three at the track.

    6.10 Laytown - Ocean Manifest

Ocean Manifest looks set to lose his maiden tag for Stephen Thorne here.

He was an eye-catcher at Killarney on his last run, looking like the winner inside the final furlong. However, he was caught late on and narrowly defeated.

The ground that day was yielding to soft, so he looks like the type of horse that may improve for the conditions offered at Laytown.

He is still unexposed with only five career starts, and he looks like the type to kick on in the backend of the season when the ground is softer.

7.10 Laytown - Shoot To Kill

Recent recruit for the consistent Noel Kelly team, Shoot To Kill arrives here in good form, having won comfortably at Gowran Park on his start.

That was an excellent performance because he drew clear of the field inside the final furlong to run out a game winner, comfortably beating a consistent handicapper, Harry The Rogue who has won two good races this summer, by roughly two lengths.

He arrives here in top form, having won twice and placed once in his five starts and he should prove tough to peg back here.
