Vaniteux impresses at Donny Vaniteux (8-11 favourite) staked his claim for top honours with an impressive success in the Eventmasters Ltd EBF "National Hunt" Novices' Hurdle (Qualifier) at Doncaster. Nicky Henderson's five-year-old put a disappointing run at Kempton on Boxing Day behind him as he dispatched what looked decent opposition with aplomb. Barry Geraghty pushed him into the lead before the final flight and he swept to a facile 12-length victory over Portway Flyer, who had won his last three races. Gone Too Far was a further three and three-quarter lengths back in third. Henderson said: "He's very, very nice and that was a learning curve. It was only two miles at Kempton and he just didn't have time to organise himself and he was flat to the boards. "But he doesn't really any further than that (two and a half miles). "I don't think we'll go to Cheltenham this year, the two-and-half-miler at Aintree might be more his cup of tea. "He's one for the future and hopefully he'll be at Cheltenham one day."
