Walsh expected back in Saturday

Irish champion jockey Ruby Walsh, who missed his three intended rides at Kempton on Monday, will be out of action until Saturday, according to trainer Paul Nicholls.

Walsh hurt his foot and his ankle in a fall from the ill-fated Sanglote at the last fence in the Ascot Underwriting Beginners' Chase at the Berkshire track on Saturday.

Although he fulfilled the rest of his commitments that day, Walsh had an unscheduled day off on Sunday when the meeting at Cork was abandoned.

Walsh was due to partner the Nicholls-trained Grade One winner Twist Magic in the William Hill Gold Cup Chase at Exeter (registered as the Haldon Gold Cup) on Tuesday. Noel Fehily now takes the ride.

Nicholls said: "I am hoping he is going to be back on Saturday, he has not fractured anything, he's just a bit sore.

"Hopefully he will be riding at Wincanton as I am likely to run Celestial Halo and The Tother One.

"Christian Williams will probably ride most of the horses tomorrow but Noel Fehily will be on Twist Magic as he rides a bit for the owner."
