Warsaw impresses on debut at Navan Aidan O'Brien unleashed another highly-promising juvenile as Warsaw made a winning start to his career in the opening five-furlong maiden. The 18/1 shot, who the market had as third string of the O'Brien trio of runners, soon tracked the leaders and was sent on by Jack Cleary a furlong and a-half out. He lengthened away in the final furlong and won by two and three-quarter lengths from Fairy Oak who got up for second at 25/1. O'Brien's Kansas, the 8/11 favourite, was another half a length away in third. Stable representative Chris Armstrong said: "It was (a lovely start) - in fairness, Jack gave him a lovely ride. He jumped quick, he sat just off Billy (Lee on Kansas) and travelled lovely coming into the dip. In fairness, when Jack asked him he was professional and lengthened all the way to the line. "We brought them all here today to run them to find out are they worth considering for Ascot. We will see how he comes through it. He started at five (furlongs) today and we thought coming here he would be able to go six. Jack said he will have no problem going seven, so it is a good sign. "He was professional, he travelled and did everything right. If he comes out of it well, we could look at maybe one of the Ascot races." On the sire Wootton Bassett, he added: "He's just a freak, there's no other word. He is the ultimate deal. "To start with at home, they are very good to work with. They have great temperaments, good minds, good movers. "When you bring them to the races, they show their attributes on the track. Trip-wise they tick every box."
