Washington in King George Stakes mix Washington DC is the sole Irish hopeful among 13 possibles for Friday's Qatar King George Stakes at Goodwood following the confirmation stage. Aidan O'Brien's sprinter has disappointed in the Temple Stakes and King's Stand on his last couple of starts but was only beaten a neck by Take Cover in this Group Two last year. David Griffiths' admirable dual winner Take Cover showed he was as good as ever when winning the City Walls Stakes at York on his latest start and is in contention again, as is t he William Haggas-trained Muthmir, who won the race two years ago. His owner Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum has another leading fancy in Battaash. Charlie Hills' three-year-old continued his progression when running away with the Coral Charge at Sandown. David Simcock has supplemented Fitri Hay's Glass Office, while Prix de l'Abbaye scorer Marsha and the Clive Cox-trained pair of Profitable and Priceless also stand their ground in a quality entry. The list is completed by Final Venture, Kachy, Ardad, Kyllang Rock and Yalta.
