Western to remain on the flat The November Handicap and the Irish Cesarewitch have been earmarked as potential targets for Western Boy after his fine run at Leopardstown on Saturday. The Pat Fahy-trained six-year-old finished second to Silwana in the valuable Irish Stallion Farms EBF ´Petingo´ Handicap at the Foxrock venue and is likely to remain on the level for the rest of the season. The son of Antonius Pius is better known for his exploits over obstacles, but he won on his Flat debut at Killarney in July and followed up in a handicap at the Curragh last month. "I'd say he will stick to the Flat for the rest of the season anyway," his County Carlow-based handler said. "He could go for the November Handicap at Leopardstown or the Cesarewitch at the Curragh, but I'll have to talk to Frank Berry (racing manager to owner JP McManus)."
