Workforce pleases under Moore

Ryan Moore partnered Workforce in a racecourse gallop at Sandown on Tuesday morning.

The jockey has made a remarkable recovery from a brokem humerus and thumb sustained in a fall at Goodwood on July 30 and was reunited with last year's Investec Derby and Arc hero.

Sir Michael Stoute sent the duo over nine furlongs in company with his regular lead horse Confront and Group Three-placed Dux Scholar.

Confront led his workmates to the two-furlong marker when Moore picked up Workforce and pushed him on.

While Moore did not pick up his whip, he kept Workforce up to the task and finished around two lengths in front of Dux Scholar, who appeared well in himself too.

Stoute said: "That was a nice, strong piece of work on lovely ground and I'm satisfied with that. He doesn't need to do much more as there's only 12 days to go."

Moore added: "It was fine. He seemed very well in himself and I was happy with him."

Moore visited a specialist for further assessment of his arm on Monday and received a favourable verdict ahead of his Arc date on Sunday week.

Asked about his progress, the jockey said: "I'll probably have a couple of rides before (the Arc), I'm not sure exactly but I won't want to be riding too much."

Stoute was repeating the same pattern as last year as he sent Workforce for a spin at Sandown before he went on to triumph at Longchamp.
