Nicely-backed A Nod To Getaway (4/1 - 5/2f) rewarded his supporters with a wide-margin success in the Bunkers Killorglin 40th Birthday Handicap Chase at Killarney.

He was locked together with top-weight Gaelic Des Chastys three out and led narrowly at the next. Darragh O'Keeffe soon got after the leader and drove him to assert before the last from Gaelic Des Chastys who had no answers in second.

The pursuer made a mistake there and A Nod To Getaway ran on well along the run-in to strike by seven and a-half lengths from Zolpharine (9/2) who came through for second.

This was A Nod To Getaway's third career success.

Trainer Paul O'Flynn, who won an All-Ireland Senior Football Championship with Cork in 2010, said: "If he jumped better in Wexford the last day, he could possibly have won (fourth) and we thought he improved from that run. Hopefully, he can get another one now.

"Darragh is Darragh and is good. He goes everywhere and comes and helps me out when he can too. Any time he is around, he'll give a hand and is very good that way.

"I saw the Sam Maguire here earlier today and my old manager Conor Counihan as well, so it was great. Cork (footballers) are on a slow road back but are on the right road, so maybe we'll meet again in another few years."
