Amhras well ahead of Epsom bid

Jim Bolger reports 2000 Guineas third Gan Amhras to be in fine shape ahead of the Investec Derby at Epsom on Saturday week.

However, the Coolcullen trainer, who saddled New Approach to take the premier Classic 12 months ago, would like to see a bit of ease in the ground come the big day.

Speaking at the "Breakfast With The Stars" at the Surrey track on Thursday, Bolger said: "I am very happy with him and everything has gone well since the Guineas.

"You have to go there and see what happens but I don't anticipate having any problems with the track," said the trainer.

"I wouldn't want the ground soft, but he wouldn't mind a bit of give in it.

"If were to turn up very soft Fergus McIver would probably be in the line-up but if the ground was good or better, he wouldn't run there."

Bolger also confirmed that Cuis Ghaire will not run in the Oaks and he'll be represented by the 1000 Guineas third Oh Goodness Me.
