The Qipco British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes has emerged as a possible target for Eziyra following her dominant success in the Give Thanks Stakes at Cork.

Having previously finished third behind the brilliant Enable in the Irish Oaks, Dermot Weld's Eziyra was a hot favourite for Tuesday's Group Three feature and won comfortably in the hands of champion jockey Pat Smullen.

The Rosewell House handler immediately nominated the Group Two Prix de Royallieu at Chantilly on Arc weekend as the likely aim for his Teofilo filly but an appearance on Champions Day at Ascot is also under consideration.

Weld, who won the British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes with Sapphire in 2012, said: "Eziyra was very impressive. She's a very good filly and we'll look at the Prix de Royallieu on Arc weekend, or the Group One fillies and mares race in Ascot on Champions Day, which is a race that's been very lucky for me."

On the same evening, Zabalan was an impressive winner of a Roscommon handicap and could be set for an imminent trip across the Irish Sea.

"Zabalan put in an excellent performance in Roscommon to win a pretty competitive handicap and we'll look for another similar race for him. He could go to York in two weeks' time, or we could wait for Irish Champions Weekend," Weld told At The Races.
