The Aidan Howard trained Bhean Saibhre recorded the first win of her career when easily landing the opening Adare Manor Opportunity Maiden Hurdle at Ballinrobe.

Despite coming into the contest as a 16-race maiden, the four-year-old had been in decent form of late.

Still in with every chance when unseating two out at Roscommon last month, the daughter of Decorated Knight then finished runner-up at this track on the Flat last time.

Sent off 15/8f here, Bhean Saibhre was always in the leading quartet under Peter Smithers. Going second after three out, the filly headed Tippawan Haa after the penultimate flight.

Soon drawing clear, Bhean Saibhre had the race in safe keeping well before the last, merely having to be kept up to her work in the run-in to score by 16 lengths.

“She deserved it. She’s actually been very unlucky on her last couple of runs,” said Howard.

“Peter kept it simple, he followed the leaders and he got her to relax. She picked up nicely.

“We’ll probably run her on the Flat next if she gets an ease in the ground.

“She was very unlucky here the last day, she got stopped. I’m hoping she’ll win a little handicap on the Flat.”
