Bolger happy with Gan Amhras

Jim Bolger reports 2,000 Guineas third Gan Amhras to be in fine shape ahead of the Investec Derby at Epsom on Saturday week.

However, the Coolcullen trainer, who saddled New Approach to take the premier Classic 12 months ago, would like to see a bit of ease in the ground come the big day.

Speaking at the 'Breakfast With The Stars' event at the Surrey track this morning Bolger said, 'I am very happy with him, and everything has gone well since the Guineas.

'You have to go there and see what happens but I don't anticipate having any problems with the track. I wouldn't want the ground soft, but he wouldn't mind a bit of give in it. If it were to turn up very soft, Fergus McIver would probably be in the line-up but, if the ground was good or better, he wouldn't run there.'
