Breeders' Cup option for Mondialiste David O'Meara is considering a tilt at the Breeders' Cup Mile with Mondialiste following his thrilling triumph in Canada last weekend. Runner-up in the Lincoln at Doncaster on his first start for new connections in late March, the five-year-old has gone on to enjoy an excellent campaign on home soil, landing the Pomfret Stakes at Pontefract and the Strensall Stakes at York. The five-year-old was sent across the Atlantic in search of greater riches last Sunday and came from the clouds under Fergal Lynch to claim Grade One glory in the Woodbine Mile. "It was a brilliant race, a very exciting race to watch and Fergal has given him a great ride. He did a brilliant job for us," O'Meara told At The Races. "The plan was to be no handier than third last going down the back and try to save a little bit for the finish. "Turning in I was a little bit worried as he was starting to come off the bridle earlier than I would have expected, but half a furlong into the straight you could see he was going to power home. "We're considering taking him to the Breeders' Cup. I'm not sure whether Keeneland would suit him, but Trade Storm won the Woodbine Mile last year and went to Santa Anita and finished third in the Breeders' Cup Mile. "While Keeneland might not suit him as well as Woodbine, Mondialiste has a free pass into the race now and his owners are quite keen on maybe having a crack at it. "If the horse is fit and well, we might take him over there."
