The Gordon Elliott trained Charismatic Kid ran out an impressive winner of the final race at the Easter Festival when easily landing the Leinster Reinforcements & Brazil Piling (Pro/Am) Flat Race at Fairyhouse.

Successful on his racecourse debut for Colm Ryan at Navan in December, the gelding was subsequent bought by Gigginstown and sent to Elliott.

Third on his stable debut at Leopardstown over Christmas, the five-year-old had been fancied for the Cheltenham bumper but was a late withdrawal due to the ground.

Making all the running here under Harry Swan, Charismatic Kid travelled strongly into the straight as his rivals were all hard at work in behind.

Quickening clear from over a furlong out, the 3/1f won by 11 lengths.

“He’s a very good horse. We brought him to Cheltenham and didn’t run him because of the ground. We think he’s a proper horse but you have to go and do it on the track,” said Elliott.

“We rode him wrong the first day, we dropped him in, but we let him stride on today.

“He’s massive. Bringing him over (to Cheltenham) and not running him was probably the best thing I ever done.

“He’s a great jumper, a nice horse. I’d imagine that’ll be him for the year and he’ll be a lovely hurdler next year.”
