Corine Barande-Barbe believes Cirrus Des Aigles will be at peak form when he lines-up for the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot on Saturday.

The trainer felt her stable star was only at 60% fitness when he made his return from injury in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud last month.

Since finishing fifth behind Novellist, who he reopposes again in the summer showpiece, Barande-Barbe believes Cirrus Des Aigles has thrived.

"Since Saint-Cloud he has done exactly what I wanted him to do. He went higher after the race and after each of his little and bigger bits of work and I think he will be very well on Saturday," Barande-Barbe told At The Races.

"I think he is as good as ever. I gave him plenty of time and my choice was to wait as long as I could. Even the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud was a bit short in time, but he was able to go and run and I did.

"He was probably at 60% for that race. He really needed it because this horse feeds himself on competition."
