Sent off the 11/4 favourite in his bid for a first win since landing a Kempton nursery for James Fanshawe three years ago, City House came from off the pace under Rory Mulligan to lead close in the BAR 1 Betting ´Bet 10 Get 50´ Handicap at Dundalk..

Five of the eight runners were pretty much in a line entering the final furlong and it was Dooley Thoroughbred's Night Of Thunder gelding, in a first-time visor, who pulled out enough to beat All The Girls by half a length.

City House made his Irish debut here in January, when rated 100, and was scoring this evening off a mark of 81.

“He wasn't winning out of turn,” admitted winning trainer Ado McGuinness.

“He was a classy enough horse and he was a cheap buy, he cost 20 grand last year.

“He's picked up plenty of prize money through the year, but wasn't winning. You can get a bit frustrated with him sometimes.

“I didn't know if he was seeing out seven, and I knew a fast six today would suit him. There was loads of pace on, I told him to sit and wait.

“It's great for the lads, the Dooley brothers are great supporters of mine. They've been very lucky with me and it's great to get a winner for them.

“We'll tip away with him. He ran in Newcastle last year and we could go back there again when we're finished here.”
