The big game of the weekend in the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship comes at Croke Park on Sunday afternoon (16:00) as champions Armagh travel to the capital to face a rejuvenated Dublin side.

Dessie Farrell's Dubs have already issued one statement of their intent with their win in Galway in round one and another may follow if they can silence the Orchard County.

Dublin found themselves billed as underdogs for the round robin opener as they ventured west to face Galway in Pearse Stadium. It was a rare slight on the Dubs and they soon set about proving the odd-makers wrong.

Ciaran Kilkenny dominated from midfield, excelling with ball in hand and working tirelessly without possession. The hunger displayed by the eight-time All-Ireland winner spoke volumes.

In the forward line Con O'Callaghan sparkled in the Salthill sunshine while Cormac Costello, Sean Bugler and Lorcan O'Dell impressed.

Ultimately, Tom Lahiff's last-gasp point earned Dublin their win by single point but it was hard not to perceive their performance merited more.

After three Championship games on the road, they are back in Croke Park on Sunday.

The wide open expanses of the Jones' Road venue should suit them and they can take another notable scalp by defeating the All-Ireland champions.

Armagh could be exposed in Croke Park

Kieran McGeeney and Armagh experienced the ultimate high last July in their defeat of Galway in the All-Ireland final. They return to Headquarters on Sunday for the first time since then.

That contest last summer was cagey, a style that suits Armagh. There have been signs this year that their reign will be short.

Donegal twice established chunky leads in the Ulster final, while Derry scored 2-17 in the Athletic Grounds last weekend and, bar Ethan Rafferty's excellence in the home goal, might have scored more goals.

Antrim put 1-23 on the scoreboard in Belfast in the Ulster opener and Tyrone nailed 0-22 in the semi-final despite being off colour for much of that game.

The return of Rian O'Neill against Derry was a bonus, but that was his first involvement of 2025 and this is a major rise in class so soon into his comeback.

Armagh have tended to work their way into games in the Championship so far and taking Dublin to lead at half-time and win could be the best value option.
