Jacob's Ladder brought up doubles for Gordon Elliott and Jack Kennedy when justifying 2/1 favouritism in the Barberstown Castle Handicap Steeplechase at Leopardstown.

Kennedy guided him into contention before the last and the pair took over in jumping that obstacle from Addragoole and Eoin Staples.

The new leader wasn't for stopping on the lengthy run-in and he had the pursuers toiling inside the final furlong.

He passed the post with five lengths in hand over a staying-on stablemate Golden Joy (in a first-time visor) at 25/1 as Addragoole dropped to third at 7/1.

Elliott said: “We were very happy with his run in Punchestown the last day.

“I was a bit worried about the ground being so soft but I’m happy, it was a good performance.

“I was happy the whole way, he looked comfortable the whole way. Jack got him in a lovely rhythm.

“I’d imagine he’ll go straight now for a handicap at Cheltenham, all being well.”

On runner-up Golden Joy, he added: “A bit of headgear might have just helped. We rode him a bit colder today.

He ran a very good race and hit the line strong, so we’re happy with him as well.”

Elliott and Kennedy also took the Grade One Romeo Coolio in the Irish Arkle.
