Embittered put the seal on a memorable day for Eric McNamara when he served up a 14/1 surprise in the Gallivan Financial Handicap Chase at Killarney.

He brought up an across-the-card treble for McNamara after the earlier successes of Solomon Islands (22/1) in Leopardstown and Hees Dynamite (3/1f) at this venue.

Sean Flanagan guided him to challenge Prince Of Air at two out and he touched down in front. He asserted by the last and stayed on to post a nine-and-a-half-length success over Prince Of Air (7/2). That's About Right (25/1) was another six and a-half lengths back in third.

"The handicapper has been dropping him a few pounds and for one reason or another he was really switched on tonight. The plan was to be handy all the way and Sean gave him a super ride," McNamara said.

"He was a classy horse on his day and when we bought him, we were hoping he'd be a bit better and more genuine than he is but he has won twice for us now. He'll go now to Listowel.

"Tadhg Moynihan (owner) lives in Madeira and flew in to see him today. He loves the Kerry air!"
