The once-raced Johnny Murtagh trained Chicago Call made the most of that previous experience when quickening up close home to win the Irish Stallion Farms EBF (C & G) Maiden at Fairyhouse.

Fourth on his introduction at Naas in May, the Oasis Dream colt took a significant step forward here to open his account under Ben Coen.

The latter grabbed the box seat from the off, settling third as Two Strike and Stock Market set the fractions.

As Two Strike gave way two-furlongs out, Jack Cleary took over in front on the Aidan O'Brien trained Stock Market.

However, Coen came through to lead on Chicago Call over 200 yards out, keeping on well to win by two-and-a-half lengths from the last finisher Charles Fort

Johnny Murtagh said: “We thought he ran well the first but then you look at the distance he got beaten. He ran very green, and Ben said he’d learn a lot.

“He’s a horse that needs plenty of work and he’s thrived on his work. I thought he still might need one more race before he was zoned in.

“I’d say he’s an above average colt and we might step him up in class now and see where he fits in.”
