Fantasia destroys rivals in Nell Gwyn The Luca Cumani-trained Fantasia put up a superb display to win the Leslie Harrison Memorial Nell Gwyn Stakes under Frankie Dettori at Newmarket this afternoon. Beaten only once as a juvenile by current 1000 Guineas favourite Rainbow View in the Fillies' Mile at Ascot on her final start, she showed a rare turn of foot to justify 4/5 favouritism. Bought by George Strawbridge in the winter, who also owns Rainbow View, Dettori knew all along how much horse he had underneath him as he sat last at halfway. However, as he pulled the daughter of Sadler's Wells into the middle of the track she absolutely bolted clear of her rivals to beat Damaniyat Girl by a yawning seven lengths. However whether a rematch with Rainbow View will happen at Newmarket on May 3 remains very much open to question, as an option to go to the French Guineas remains open to Cumani's filly. Strawbridge said, 'I am just thrilled Fantasia is so good and has trained on. I wouldn't rule out both fillies running in the (Newmarket) Guineas as there are many days left before the race.' 'I am very lucky to have two such good fillies. I am heading back to the States tonight and will let some days go by and see what happens. I just want to enjoy this win as Fantasia is a very special filly.' 'The other filly (Rainbow View) is a bit more nerve-wracking to watch. They are both entered in the English Guineas and I need to discuss plans with Luca - it is silly to dismiss anything.' 'There are various factors to be weighed up, and one of the main ones would be if we can get Frankie, as he suits this horse very well.'
