Fly Away Home one for favourite-backing students Fly Away Home (5/4f) wore down Kisuton Enki in the mares' maiden hurdle on student race day at Limerick to score for Charles and Philip Byrnes. This Wings Of Eagles mare set the standard with a mark of 108 and finished runner-up in two of her last three starts. She raced in a close third behind front-running Chosen Princess and Kisuton Enki who was returning from a long absence. The favourite came off the bridle swinging for home and went in pursuit of Kisuton Enki who passed Chosen Princess two out. Kisuton Enki certainly wasn't lacking in fitness or determination and proved to be a tough nut to crack, but Fly Away Home got to grips with her in the closing stages to strike by a length and a-quarter from the 25/1 runner-up. Babyburn (2/1) was 12 lengths adrift in third. Trainer Byrnes said: "She had been ultra-consistent and that's her level. It is great to get it as she was being rewarded for her consistency. The ground and trip suited, and everything was right. She was super fit and had plenty runs. "A share of the syndicate were involved in a good horse with me, Cloudy Bays, years ago and while they left me for a few years, they're back again. "She wants soft ground so I don't know if she will run again, but to get the win was the main thing. "I bred her and had her grandam Barnearrig Lass, who was nearly my first runner (in 1994). She got a 'leg', but afterwards I bred off her as the Pollerton mares were supposed to be good to breed from." Approximately 12,000 racegoers were packed into Limerick today and an almighty roar was unleashed when the runners jumped off in this race. Additional reporting by Tom Weekes
