Frost gets 12 days at Folkestone

Jockey Hadden Frost felt the wrath of the stewards at Folkestone after riding a finish a circuit too early on Romney Marsh in the ladbrokespoker.com Handicap Chase.

He had set up a big lead on the Roger Curtis-trained 10-year-old over his four rivals in the three-mile-one-furlong contest, and eased his mount right down as he went past the winning post.

The jockey had only realised his mistake when the other horses galloped past him.

Frost then tried to get the 8-1 chance back into the race, but it proved out of the question and he eventually pulled up his mount.

The Ben Pollock-trained Delgany Gunner (2-1) went on to land the spoils by 32 lengths in the hands of 5lb claimer Giles Hawkins.

Sky Bet will be refunding all win and each-way single bets struck on the horse.

Matt Doyle of Sky Bet said: "Frost will receive a hefty ban for this major lapse of judgement, but that is no consolation for the backers of Romney Marsh who will be given a full refund by us as they have not had a run for their money."

Frost was subsequently suspended 12 days. The young jockey will be forced onto the sidelines between March 1-12, which means he is still able to ride at the Cheltenham Festival.
