Harding hopeful for National return

Brian Harding plans to return to action for the John Smith's Grand National after suffering a minor fracture to an arm at Kelso on Saturday.

Harding sustained the injury when falling three out from Moufatango in the two-and-three-quarter-mile handicap hurdle.

The jockey had, earlier on the card, claimed the Premier Chase aboard Skippers Brig, who is now poised to take his chance in the National next month - and with whom Harding hopes to be reunited at Aintree.

Harding's agent, Richard Hale, said: "He's quite badly concussed, and has a fracture to his lower arm.

"It's not a bad break - it's not displaced and no operation is required - so all he'll probably need is a cast.

"He broke the same arm a year ago and it didn't take too long for him to come back.

"Hopefully it'll be a matter of weeks, rather than months, and he'll be back to ride Skippers Brig in the National."
