Hughes back today

Richard Hughes will return to the saddle with immediate effect following the changes to the whip rules.

He had picked up two bans in four days under the new rules, meaning 15-days worth of suspensions which would have kept him out of the Breeders' Cup.

However, both bans, which were for using his whip six times inside the final furlong, have now been rescinded.

Hughes rides for his father-in-law, Richard Hannon, and his son and assistant Richard junior said: "We're very pleased.

"If his bans have been wiped out and if he could ride Strong Suit that would be a massive bonus for us. I think he's coming back today."

Hughes' return was confirmed when he replaced Ryan Moore on Usain Colt in the Download The Blue Square Bet App EBF Maiden Stakes and Jimmy Fortune on Danehill Dante in the Blue Square Supporting Marie Curie Cancer Care Handicap at Newbury.

He also rides Wreaths Of Empire and Hefner in respective divisions of the Bet At bluesq.com Maiden Stakes.

Hughes is booked to ride on Saturday's Newbury card.
