Injured Ferris announces his retirement Jockey Martin Ferris has announced his retirement on medical advice from his surgeon. The Corkman suffered a severe leg break after a fall from Another Rebel in Galway at the end of October 2016. He sustained an open fracture of his left tibia and fibula. His last winner came on board Another Rebel for Michael Winters at Cork in March 2016. Statistically, his best campaign was in the National Hunt season of 2006/2007 with 11 winners. Ferris has previously said that if he was unable to return to race riding he would consider pre-training. Ferris tweeted his retirement and thanked everyone that helped him along the way.
