It's Never Simple gets up late to register first career success Unplaced on all previous eight starts prior to tonight, the Martin Brassil trained It's Never Simple opened his account when getting up right on the line under Ricky Doyle to win the Kepak Handicap Chase at Roscommon. Fitted with first-time cheekpieces, the seven-year-old travelled into the race strongly, moving well on the heels of the leaders after three out. Gaelic Des Chastys came through to head Likeable Chancer after the penultimate fence, going on a couple of lengths clear after negotiating the last. Ridden to go fourth jumping that final fence, It's Never Simple stayed on strongly with the aid of the stands rail, getting up right at the line to score by a short-head. “He’s been disappointing over hurdles and we had the option with his three runs in handicaps that he can get in off his mark over fences,” said Brassil. “He ran okay in Tipperary without setting the world alight, finishing eighth in a handicap chase there. The ground might have been a touch on the dead side for him and it was his first time as well. “I was delighted the way he did that today. He was a bit lucky at the second last but finished the race well, which is good. “Hopefully there might be another one in him.” Additional reporting by Gary Carson.
