Mr D. McGill, rider of Malton Groove, trained by Dermot Anthony McLoughlin, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung left throughout and was pulled up
The Raceday Stewards interviewed P.M. O'Brien, rider of Gaelic Des Chastys (FR), trained by E. McNamara, concerning where he appeared to ease his mount prematurely costing him first place. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that he felt his horse was not running on for the use of his whip. He stated that he continued riding with hands and heels and does not feel he eased down prematurely. Having viewed the recording and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that P.M. O'Brien was in breach of R.212A(iv)(a) in that he stopped riding costing him a better place and in considering his clean record in this regard they suspended him for fourteen racedays and ordered him to forfeit his riding fee
The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident on the bend past the stands on the first circuit involving It's Never Simple, ridden by R.A. Doyle, Zolpharine, ridden by H.E. Sexton, and Stily (FR), ridden by S.F. O'Keeffe where it appeared an incident occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. S.F. O'Keeffe stated that he was on the inner throughout and felt pressure from his outside forcing him to check severely. R.A. Doyle stated that he was aware S.F. O'Keeffe was inside him but pressure from his outside forced him onto the horse inside him. H.E
Sexton stated that horses in front of him carried him right but did not feel he tightened up the horses inside him
Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found H.E. Sexton, was in breach of Rule 214 in that they had ridden carelessly, and having considered his clean record in this regard the Raceday Stewards suspended him for two racedays.
