It was ‘the usual story’ at Navan today as Willie Mullins bagged the featured Grade 2 Tote Guarantee, Never Beaten By SP Navan Novice Hurdle with Doctor Steinberg (3/1) who scored under the champion trainer’s nephew Danny Mullins.

With Mullins represented by Il Etait Temps and stable jockey Paul Townend in Sandown’s Tingle Creek Chase, Danny Mullins had steered Saint Baco to win the Meath venue’s earlier maiden hurdle before doubling the team’s tally on Jodmart Construction’s Doctor Steinberg .

Four runners contested the €37,500 race with uncomplicated Doctor Steinberg making all the running to score by 4.75 lengths from Thedeviluno with Kovanis filling third place and the well-backed Port Authority (5/4 — 1/1f) disappointing in rear.

Jockey Mullins mentioned "I'd say it is the usual story, he is just a very good horse.

“He jumped well, went and galloped, and was very tough. Even going to the second-last, I was conscious of getting lower in the saddle and have him rolling up the hill. He put it to bed nicely from the back of the last."

"You'd imagine he could be a type for the Albert Bartlett (at Cheltenham) but if you are winning over 2m4f around here, he is not lacking that bit of speed as well. He keeps surprising us and stepping up, which is a great trait."
