Kidd weighs up Rashaan options Colin Kidd is weighing up whether to run Cheltenham-bound Rashaan at either Newbury or Dundalk in preparation for his Festival bid. Kidd is eager to make a trip to the March showpiece at Prestbury Park but is in a quandary as to whether to take in the Betfair Hurdle at Newbury or a Flat outing at Dundalk along the way. The five-year-old has not run since beating Apples Jade at Down Royal back in November and Kidd would need decent ground at Newbury if Rashaan is to run there. He said: "The Betfair Hurdle is an option for Rashaan. "I haven't decided which way to go with him yet. There is a nice two-mile Flat race on the all-weather at Dundalk on the same weekend as the Betfair Hurdle, which is another possible target. "A lot will depend on the going as he does want good ground and there is quite a big difference between his rating in Ireland and the weight he has been given at Newbury. "All has been good with him since he won at Down Royal and we are deciding where we will go with him next. He needs one run before he goes to Cheltenham." Rashaan has been given 11st 11lb in the weights for the £155,000 Betfair Hurdle on February 11 with ante-post favourite, the Nigel Twiston-Davies-trained Ballyandy, being allotted 10st 6lb in the initial handicap. Paul Nicholls' Lanzarote hero Modus has joint-top weight of 11st 12lb along with Willie Mullins' Ivan Grozny, who is one of 13 Irish-trained entries.
