Review leopardstown 5th Mar

< Great Field overcame a final-fence mistake to come out on top in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Novice Chase at Leopardstown.

The 15-8 favourite was foot-perfect until guessing at the penultimate obstacle but was still clear when knuckling on landing at the last, with Jody McGarvey performing miracles to stay in the saddle.

Willie Mullins' charge regained his composure to cross the line eight lengths ahead of Don't Touch It with Identity Thief once again disappointing and managing only fourth.

Great Field won the Foxrock Cup Hurdle last year and the 2017 renewal went the way of Hidden Cyclone (11-4 favourite), who called upon all of his considerable experience to deny Bonbon Au Miel

Bonbon Au Miel had three runs under his belt in France but was making his first appearance for the Mullins team on the back of an 892-absence.

He took the lead off Hidden Cyclone at the last, but Shark Hanlon 's stable stalwart would not be denied and he battled back to prevail by three-quarters of a length.

Hanlon followed up when Camlann landed the Coral.ie Handicap Hurdle.

Just 24 hours on from his Navan second, the 9-4 favourite showed no ill effects from those exertions and pulled out plenty at the business end for Rachael Blackmore, beating Joshua Lane by a length and three-quarters.< Mr Diablo produced a bold display of jumping to land the TRI Equestrian Handicap Chase for Philip and Luke Dempsey.

The 16-1 shot took up the running with fully a circuit to travel but was able to dictate matters from that point and had the race won at the last, where a bold leap helped propel him to a length-and-three-quarter defeat of Emcon < Wishmoor (12-1) held off Kaiser Black in the TRI Equestrian Superstore & Cafe Maiden Hurdle, while Paper Lantern (11-2) beat old rival Tulpar in the Martinstown Opportunity Handicap Chase, and High Tide (9-1) led home a one-two-three for Joseph O'Brien in the TRM Excellence In Equine Nutrition (Pro/Am) Flat Race.
