Margot Mae produced a fine front-running performance to land the nursery at Punchestown this afternoon.

The Jessica Harrington-trained filly broke well in the seven furlong contest and took them along under Nathan Crosse.

She was pressed early in the straight, by Knockraha Pa , but asserted in the closing stages to record a length-and-a-quarter success at odds of 11/4. Darlene won the scrap for the runner-up spot.

"She deserved that. In the spring, we thought a lot of her. She was always doing her work well and was relaxing into her work. We always thought she'd be a maiden winner,” said Crosse.

“It was just nice there. She was revved going down and she was ready for it in the gates. When she popped well, I was happy to let her take me to the front.

“We got to set our own fractions and she got down and stretched well to the line. She only got the hang of it really at the line. I was quite happy with her."
