McCreery pleased with Downforce Willie McCreery was delighted with Downforce’s run at Leicester on Saturday. The six-year-old was already having his fifth run of the new campaign but showed there will be plenty more to be won with him. Carrying a Listed penalty, he cruised into contention before Emmaus and Donjuan Triumphant pulled away close home. “He’s run a stormer. He made up ground really easy and cut through them like butter,” said McCreery. “Probably six and a half furlongs is his ideal trip. I know he’s won over seven but that was against lesser opposition. “The winner is an impeccably bred horse, he’s got a real future and the second horse is highly-rated and we should have been receiving weight rather than giving him weight. I thought it was a very good run. “I think he’s too high for the big handicaps. To me he should be 103 or 104 but he’s got 110 because he can run well on very soft ground. “A lot of those big handicaps are run on faster ground, too, and he definitely needs a cut in it. If it’s barely raceable that suits him more than the others. “He owes his owners nothing and is a great, fun horse to have.”
