Willie Mullins trained a fifth winner on Easter Sunday, as Mirazur West made all the running to land the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Beginners Chase at Cork.

Following earlier wins at this track, Fairyhouse and Plumpton respectively, the reigning Irish and British Champion Trainer was adding to an excellent afternoon.

Sent straight to the front by Jody McGarvey, the well backed 8/11f jumped well in the main, having his rivals on the stretch from early on.

From four out, only Foxy Girl and Harsh held any chance of inflicting a defeat on the Mullins charge. With the former beaten after two out, it was left to Harsh to throw down the final challenge.

However, try as he might, treble chasing Danny Gilligan could never quite get to grips with the J.P. McManus owned gelding.

Jody McGarvey said: "It was a while coming with him but they found a good opportunity and it looked a very winnable race. He travelled, jumped and got it done in the end.

"Maybe he isn't the quickest horse in the world but he stuck his head out well. He had a bit more class than the rest of them and I'd imagine his future might lie over further (distances). He is not as quick as he thinks he is, and he just likes to get on with things."
