Mullins and Townend double up with Dysart Dasher Dysart Dasher (5/2) brought up a quick-fire double for Willie Mullins and Paul Townend at Kilbeggan in the Tom McCormack Memorial Cup Maiden Hurdle. It was a similar story to race one as Townend bounced Dysart Dasher away to make all from flagfall. Paul Townend was seen nudging him along and steering him around the undulations on this track. Time In A Bottle, who was backed down to 2/1 favouritism, made headway two out and soon attempted to chase down the leader. She was closer at the last and the door was opened when Dysart Dasher was less than fluent there, however, the leader stayed on along the run-in to post a three-length victory over the favourite. Half Past Tipsy (7/1) was some eight and a-half lengths away in third. When it was put to him that he wasn’t the simplest of rides, Townend replied: “It’s a family trait. They are talented and quirky. He was more manageable today. He got left alone a little bit which helped. “With the benefit of getting a couple of runs together, I think he can improve again. He’s mentally still immature. “You can deal with them, though (the family). It’s a great family and it’s great for Eleanor and Shane (Manning) to have another one and to win on him. “I think he’s still maturing and developing and, the bigger the obstacle, the more respect he’ll have for it. He’s a big unit for around there.” Mullins and Townend combined with 30/100 favourite Love Me Tender in the opener on the card. Additional reporting by Gary Carson
