Music heads Irish 1000 Guineas

Music Show heads a field of 19 declared for the Etihad Airways Irish 1,000 Guineas at the Curragh on Sunday.

The Mick Channon-trained filly has been at the forefront of the betting despite being beaten into sixth place in the Newmarket equivalent earlier this month.

She had run out a convincing winner of the Nell Gwyn Stakes on her previous start and is among four British challengers seeking Classic glory.

The others are her main market rival Anna Salai, having her first run for Mahmood Al Zarooni since moving from Andre Fabre's stable, Stan Moore's Lady Darshaan and Charlie McBride's Blue Maiden.

Lillie Langtry leads Aidan O'Brien's five-strong assault but has something to prove as she makes her seasonal debut.

She landed the valuable Tattersalls Timeform Fillies' 800 at Newmarket on her penultimate start, and then went over to America for the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies' Turf.

Despite being sent off favourite, she could finish only eighth although an injury did emerge in the aftermath.

"She's had a good break. She had an injury at the end of last year, but she's been back in work a couple of months and had a canter away at the Curragh," said O'Brien.

"She's in good form and she's just ready to start.

"Obviously she is a filly and doesn't carry as much condition as the colts.

"Hopefully she might be a little bit more forward (than the colts) but she's just ready to start."

O'Brien also runs Remember When, subject of support of the Investec Oaks recently after a pleasing reappearance behind Chinese White on only her second start.

"Remember When runs. She's had a run this season and ran nicely at Gowran and finished third to two older fillies," O'Brien told At The Races.

"She's in good form, the plan is to run and see how much she has come on and then take the next step when we see how she runs.

"It's hard to say at this time of year whether it is a strong Classic or a weak Classic because at lot of the good horses aren't ready to run until the Classics.

"Before the race they might look weak but then a superstar might arrive, you're never sure.

"The fillies are well and we'd be delighted if they run well."

O'Brien's other runners are Famous, Full Of Hope and Queen Of Troy as the Ballydoyle trainer goes for a fifth win in the Classic.

A strong home team also includes the Tommy Stack-trained duo of Lolly For Dolly and Cnocandancer, Kevin Prendergast's Termagant and Crystal Gal, Dermot Weld's Bethrah, the Paul Deegan-trained Lady Springbank, Jim Bolger's pair of 1000 Guineas third Gile Na Greine and Atasari.

Song Of My Heart represents David Wachman, who sent out Again to lift the prize 12 months ago. Brian Nolan's What About Me completes the line-up.

The only withdrawal at the final declaration stage was the John Murphy-trained Silk Slippers.
