New look Tipp opens its gates for 2013 Tipperary Racecourse unveils a new €400,000 redevelopment this evening as the track belatedly hosts its first action of 2013 with a two-day fixture. The recent investment includes a new entrance building, the relocation of the pre-saddling arena, improvements to the enclosure layout and the completion of the stable yard upgrade. This follows the construction of a 42-stall American style barn. A new pathway has been installed to link the Limerick-end car park to the new entrance building, meaning customers can easily and safely access the entrance from both car parks. Alterations have been made to the bookmakers’ ring which was part of the overall improvements to the surfacing and layout of the enclosure, while children are also catered for with a new playground. The project was part-funded by the Horse Racing Ireland Racecourse Development Fund. Today’s Flat meeting was rescheduled after the card was cancelled due to waterlogging on April 18, and the first of seven races gets underway at 5.15pm.
