Oxx looking forward to Beresford test John Oxx admits impressive maiden winner Akeed Mofeed faces a big step up in class this weekend when he contests the Juddmonte Beresford Stakes at the Curragh on Sunday. A five-length winner at Leopardstown earlier this month having finished fourth there on his debut previously, the son of Dubawi created a huge impression. So much so that he has been installed as the short-priced favourite to win the Group Two event, despite Aidan O'Brien having nine of the 14 entries at the five-day stage. Oxx has won the race three times since 2002 and all three winners went on to prove themselves as top-class three-year-olds, with Alamshar, Azamour and Sea The Stars being three of the best the Currabeg handler has trained. "He was impressive, but that was only a maiden he won," said Oxx. "We're very happy with the horse and we're looking forward to seeing him run, but a maiden is one thing and a Group Two is another so we'll wait and see."
