Parliament back in action over hurdles

Housesofparliament was among the talented bunch of ex-Ballydoyle horses to join Joseph O'Brien last year and he gets the chance to kickstart his jumping career in the Colm Quinn BMW Novice Hurdle at Galway on Tuesday.

The Galileo gelding hasn't been seen since struggling in Grade One company on his second outing over timber at Leopardstown back in February.

The four-year-old had been a smart staying type on the level for Aidan O'Brien, finishing a close third in the St Leger at Doncaster on his final Flat outing.

He shaped with promise on his debut over jumps when chasing home the talented Meri Devie at Leopardstown last Christmas but in more testing conditions back at that course, he made little impact when upped in class.

Showers are forecast but the ground is likely to be much more to his liking now and he looks a classy animal who is capable of much better than he has shown yet over jumps.

Bryan Cooper may have lost the number one job with Gigginstown but looks to be on their main hope in the two-mile contest.

The Henry de Bromhead-trained Cinema De Quartier was impressive when opening his hurdling account at Kilbeggan towards the end of June and the point-to-point recruit is open to plenty of improvement on just his fourth outing.

All the runners, bar Housesofparliament, won last time out and another leading contender is the Willie Mullins-trained Law Girl.

She showed improvement from her debut when scoring at Roscommon and is another who seems on the upgrade.

Bamako Moriviere, who finished mid-division in the Galway Hurdle last year, bids to get off the mark over the larger obstacles in the Latin Quarter Beginners Chase.

Mullins' charge was sent off a short price on his chasing debut at Kilbeggan but crashed out at the sixth fence. He is sure to have been well schooled since then and as a 148-rated hurdler, he should take all the beating in this two-mile-two-furlong contest.

Barry Geraghty takes the mount on All The Answers in the JP McManus colours. He ran a nice race to chase home Our Dougal on his chasing debut at Killarney and with that run under his belt, looks a danger.
