Happy Pharoah scored for the third time over 1m5f at Leopardstown this season when just coming out on top in a thrilling finish to the €150,000 Irish Stallion Farms EBF Petingo Handicap.

The Donnacha O’Brien-trained gelding, available at 14/1 this morning and sent off a 9/1 shot, challenged on the stands’ side inside the final furlong.

Paddy Harnett ’s mount had just headed Light As Air when bumping that rival about 50 yards out and the head victory was confirmed following a stewards enquiry.

There was a gap of a length and three-quarters back to Aeronautic and Too Bossy For Us who dead-heated for third.

O’Brien said, “He’s a right horse. He’s done nothing but improve and he deserved a big pot like this.

“I think he might get into the Cesarewitch now with a winners’ penalty. That’s kind of what I’m thinking, if it works out that way.”
