Power Of Words steps up a place to land maiden Runner-up on his last three starts, the Gordon Elliott trained Power of Words went one better when opening his account in the Curragh To Curragh Charity Cycle on Saturday, August 30th Maiden Hurdle at Roscommon. Never far off the pace under Jack Kennedy, the 7/2 chance headed leader Jetaway Nana after jumping the third last flight. Following Orders came through to throw down a challenge at the penultimate hurdle but ran around a bit between the last two jumps, handing the initiative back to Power Of Words. The latter stayed on strongly on the run-in to win by one-and-a-quarter lengths. “It’s nice for him to get that done,” said Kennedy. “He shows us a bit at home but has probably just done things wrong on his previous few runs. He put it all together there today and did it well. “He was only doing what he had to do (late on). “He did everything right today so hopefully if he keeps going that way he can progress.” Additional reporting by Gary Carson.
