A three and a quarter lengths winner of the 2024 running of the Christmas Party Nights At Dundalk Handicap, Dontspoilasale (13/2) landed this year's renewal by precisely the same margin in the hands of Joey Sheridan.

Fourth at this track on Wednesday, the Kuroshio gelding sat second to Barbapapa before heading that one a furlong and went away to score decisively as Sporting Hero grabbed second close home to complete a one-two for trainer Denis Hogan.

Owner James McAuley said: "It wasn't fair on the horse, we ran him over five furlongs the other day. To be fair, he probably would have done as much on Denis' gallop, which is deep, as he did the other day. Once he missed the break, he came home well.

"We told Joey 'good and aggressive at the start'.

"We need horses like that, even if they are coming second, it pays for the other runners when we have three or four runners. We always need horses like him to tip around.

"He'll keep going throughout the winter and he has the option now, if the handicapper gives him too much, of claimers as well. He will be fine."
