Having won the opening race on the evening, Colin Keane doubled up when guiding the short priced Res Ipsa to an easy success in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden at Limerick.

Runner-up at Killarney last month, the Ger Lyons trained Frankel colt was sent off at prohibitive odds of 1/5f to go one better.

Always well placed under Keane, the Juddmonte owned grey came through to head Stable Lane over a furlong from the finish.

Coasting clear inside the final furlong, Res Ipsa had six-lengths in hand at the line.

Ger Lyons said: "Sometimes you can get carried away with the pedigrees so the horses have this weight on their shoulders, so I just wanted to place this one to tick the maiden box, and to stop thinking of him as a good horse.

"At the minute, he is just a 'horse' and he did this the way you'd expect him to do it. A mile is a good fit for him and he is very much a work in progress. We'll see how he goes, but it will be baby steps until he proves otherwise.

"(Third-placed) Camino Lad ran well and it was a great bit of handicapping! It took him a while to get him started and he is a nice horse but is raw as hell. Hopefully he can build on this."
