Rothwell's Wicklow Lad Co Wicklow trainer Philip Rothwell made the journey worthwhile when saddling Wickow Lad to win The Harry's Bar Opportunity Handicap Hurdle under Donal McAuley in the colours of the Germaines Top Lounge Syndicate from Baltinglass. Rothwell said afterwards, "That's my first winner of the new season and I'm thrilled. This horse ran twice on heavy ground in Limerick and didn't go on it but the ground in Limerick appears to be different and I just thought we'd take a chance here today. I'm delighted for Donal, things are going well for him since he turned professional and it'll give him a load of confidence. The horse will have a little break now."
