Siren strikes for Oliver Celestial Siren gained a deserved victory when claiming the three-year-old plus maiden at Punchestown, for trainer Andy Oliver. The Starman filly had been runner-up three times as a juvenile and finished fifth from her return from a year off the track at Navan eight days ago. She went to post 5/1 shot today and was always close up on the rail under Gary Carroll in the seven furlong contest. After bagging the lead from front-runner Spacebound passing the two pole she was always doing enough in the closing stages to hold that rival’s renewed challenge by half-a-length. "She did that well. Gary gave her a lovely ride,” said Oliver. “She had a nice draw and she likes to bounce out. The two principals were up front. “Gary controlled the pace and kicked on off the home bend. “We haven't made any plans beyond today. It's nice to get her maiden out of the way and we'll discuss it with the owners this evening or tomorrow." (Quotes by John O’Riordan)
