JJ Slevin will have to serve a three-day whip ban after losing his appeal against the penalty he incurred at Fairyhouse last month.

Slevin was found guilty of using his whip with his arm above shoulder height aboard the Liz Doyle-trained Neural, who finished fourth in the Madden Raparees GAA Fundraising Day Handicap Hurdle and suspended for three days as well as being ordered to attend RACE for a day's tuition.

Slevin accepted the ban on the day but decided to appeal on reflection, feeling that he was hard done by the decision reached.

Despite boss Joseph O'Brien giving evidence in his favour at a hearing, Slevin's appeal was dismissed and he will be sidelined on February 9, 11 and 16. He also forfeited his deposit.
