Spencer has faith in Fame stamina Jamie Spencer is "very hopeful" that Fame And Glory will stay the trip in the Ascot Gold Cup next Thursday. The jockey rides Aidan O'Brien's charge now that his retainer Mrs Fitri Hay has bought a significant share in the horse. The partnership are unbeaten in two starts this season, the latest coming with a workmanlike success in the Seamus & Rosemary McGrath Memorial Saval Beg Stakes at Leopardstown. He steps up significantly in trip next week but the jockey told At The Races: "Untill he actually runs over two-and-a-half miles nobody can say he is or isn't going to stay but he travels well, settles well and has a strong stamina pedigree. He's won an Irish Derby and you'd be very hopeful he'll stay." Fame And Glory's Saval Beg win met with mixed reviews but the jockey insists he was happy with his partner. "At Leopardstown he cruised into the race and only beats what's put in front of him. It goes without saying that Aidan's horses always improve. At the end of the day I was happy, Aidan was happy and that's all that matters really," he added
